Opened in October 2009, Lakeside Medical Center serves the western Palm Beach County communities in the rural agricultural region bordering Lake Okeechobee. The 70-bed hospital was constructed and is operated by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, a comprehensive safety-net system established by voters in 1988.

The mission of the Health Care District is to ensure access to quality health care for the residents of Palm Beach County, including the medically underserved population of rural western Palm Beach County. Lakeside Medical Center is Palm Beach County’s only public hospital. The hospital features:

  • All single-occupancy rooms,
  • Advanced digital technologies,
  • An innovative Birthplace, and
  • A veteran staff with deep roots in the community and extraordinary dedication to their mission.

Lakeside Medical Center is situated on a beautiful 50-acre medical campus at the intersection of SR 441 and SR 80 (Hooker Highway). The surrounding region, popularly known as “the Glades,” is blanketed with fertile farmlands.

The hospital is just a few minutes from the marinas, campgrounds, and scenic nature trails of Lake Okeechobee. Just a half hour’s drive to the east are the West Palm Beach suburban communities of Royal Palm Beach and Wellington, offering additional educational opportunities, cultural events, and shopping options.

No matter where you live, the oceanfront towns, with their pristine beaches and lively social and cultural scenes, are no more than an hour away.
